Serge Gasore // Founder
Serge is a native Rwandan and genocide survivor. After completing master degrees in both Information Technology and Global Service at Abilene Christian University, Serge founded Rwandan Children in order to provide aid to vulnerable children in his home village of Ntarama. He was honored as the 2018 Young Alumnus of the Year by his alma mater, Abilene Christian University. An effective leader, Serge starts by listening. He and his family live in Kigali, Rwanda.
Esperance Gasore // Founder & Health Center Director
Esperance was born in the Congo. When she was a teenager, Esperance and her family were resettled to the U.S. where she later met and married Serge. A Licensed Practical Nurse, Esperance directs our health center. As the mom of three children, Esperance loves kids and has a special place in her heart for at-risk kids. Esperance was the recipient of the U.S. Embassy in Rwanda's 2018 Woman of Courage Award.
Vann Conwell // Executive Director
Vann served in vocational ministry with local churches for over 35 years and was appointed the Executive Director of Rwanda Children in January of 2014. He serves as the vision leader on behalf of Rwanda Children. When not in Rwanda, Vann makes his home in Alabama with his wife, Susan.
Kadox Uwimana // Community Manager
Kadox lives in Ntarama and he seems to know just about everyone in our community. He has worked for Rwanda Children since it began in the summer of 2013. Kadox makes sure everything runs smoothly on our campus. He sees that necessary resources are always available for our house moms and the kids in our care.
Innocente Uwamahoro // Headmistress - Rwanda Children Christian School
Drawing on her training as a teacher and administrator, Innocente serves as the headmistress or principal of our school. She says about her role: “My expectation is that guided by the example of Jesus, our school will provide vulnerable kids a quality education in an environment of loving support from our teachers and the other members of our team.”
Clementine Mahirwe // Sponsor Communication Coordinator
Clementine served as one of our house moms before transitioning to her current position. Her love for our kids and her outstanding communication skills well prepare Clementine for the role of providing our children's sponsors with regular updates on each child's progress and well-being.
Immaculee Irankunda // Microfinance & Entrepreneurship Coordinator
Immaculee coordinates our Microfinance & Entrepreneurship Program. This program focuses on reducing poverty in our community while specifically targeting the families of the kids in our care. Under Immaculee's tutelage, individuals will be trained and equipped to start small businesses.
Brianne Hendrick // National Volunteer Coordinator
Bre's relationship with Rwanda Children began with a prayer: "God, make me a part of something bigger than myself. Something that can only be explained by saying, 'God is in this!'" God answered that prayer by leading Bre to us! She and her family make their home in Washington, D.C.
Andrea Butcke // Educational Needs Coordinator
Andrea is a retired special education teacher. She has traveled to Rwanda and seen first-hand the opportunities for our partnering with parents, schools and teachers in the education of Rwanda’s children. We appreciate Andrea sharing her expertise and experience in support of educating at-risk kids.
